Ok it worked fine after a reboot, but now the keyboard and touchpad are not working properly. It's like the machine has an IRQ conflict on the keyboard. But the other odd thing is all my data I dumped onto the Desktop is not showing up, not even able to get the run dialogue to display in KDE, Alt-F2 is no go with the keyboard like this, but even using a plugged in USB mouse and click Run command on the KMenu it just doesn't come up on screen.
