Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17
I am attempting to sync my Treo 650 with Edgy, but I can't get the device node to show up anywhere. I tried loading the visor module, and according to /var/log/messages, it's loaded: Box kernel: [17239502.248000] usbcore: registered new driver usbserial Box kernel: [17239502.248000] drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for generic Box kernel: [17239502.248000] usbcore: registered new driver usbserial_generic Box kernel: [17239502.248000] drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core Box kernel: [17239502.252000] drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Handspring Visor / Palm OS Box kernel: [17239502.252000] drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Sony Clie 3.5 Box kernel: [17239502.256000] drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for Sony Clie 5.0 Box kernel: [17239502.256000] usbcore: registered new driver visor Box kernel: [17239502.256000] drivers/usb/serial/visor.c: USB HandSpring Visor / Palm OS driver It says nothing of /dev/ttyUSB0, and /var/log/udev says nothing of a device node being created under /sys, either... I even tried creating the dev node with: mknod /dev/ttyUSB0 c 188 0 ln -s ttyUSB0 /dev/pilot chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB0 But jpilot still doesn't work!! It gives me this output: pi_bind error: /dev/pilot No such device Check your serial port and settings Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND What gives? I'm assuming it's a kernel issue, or an issue with the visor module, but I don't hack, so don't take my word for it! ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17 I am attempting to sync my Treo 650 with Edgy, but I can't get the device node to show up anywhere.
