Another 8510p here.

I'm currently using Vista because of this.

Under Ubuntu the fan is always blasting with hot air. After about 10-20
minutes of usage under Hardy (usage = internet browsing), it will be
around 70 degrees celsius, more if flash or java are being used. Under
Vista, the temperature sensors consistently average around 47 degrees
celsius. I've experienced this sort of heat in other version of Linux
with this laptop like Fedora 9 and OpenSUSE 11.

There is actually a specific spot on the surface that gets very hot and
I believe that the processor (Core 2 Duo T7300) is under it. Another
possible source of heat could be coming from the Radeon HD 2600.
