I am facing exactly the same problem. In fact, I could not understand if the problem is with the driver, or the new software installed. The problem is that all softwares from Firefox to abiword to Bittorrent have been upgarded and I can't figure out what exactly caused this problem. It is painful and is simply shameful.
In fact I was happy that the Ubuntu team had a fix for the problem "X not starting" which occured when I upgraded to Edgy from dapper. I was also happy to see new graphics, new cool features and new versions of software I used to install earlier. However this happiness was shortlived. The web-browsing experience is anything but great. This needs an immediate fix. I don't know and can't figure out if it is due to a new vesa driver or a new hardware accelerator detection issue, or a new software version. But this problem will discourage people from using Ubuntu. -- vesa driver extremely slow after upgrade from xorg 7.0.0 to 7.1.1 https://launchpad.net/bugs/61720 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
