Still a problem as of the Intrepid alpha available 21-Sep-08 with a related laptop: HP Compaq Presario V5201US. The light stays off until the b43 module loads successfully, then it is on no matter what.

"A: You have to enable LEDs support in the kernel configuration. The config options you have to enable are: CONFIG_LEDS_CLASS, CONFIG_LEDS_TRIGGERS, CONFIG_MAC80211_LEDS. " For what it's worth, the V5201US also features a mute button with a similar status backlight that also does not work under Ubuntu. I doubt they're wired to the same controller, but if they are, that was a neat feature (working properly under Windows, it lights when muted to remind you why you can't hear anything). Also, the wireless LED, when lit, is shockingly bright blue and directly below the LCD, so if it is wired directly to the Broadcom card and it's possible to modulate the brightness with a duty-cycle parameter, that would be a welcome tweak. (Or failing that, a knob to invert the behavior so it's off in the common case...) ** Attachment added: "dmesg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17789220/dmesg.2.6.27-3.Compaq_V5201US -- [hardy] confusing rfkill-led behaviour on linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic module b43 with default firmware files after suspend to ram https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
