Alan:
type:
xinput list

and you will see the list of your input devices. Then type:
xinput list-props "name_of_the_input_device" (replace name_of_the_input_device 
with the name of your touchpad as reported by the previous command)

e.g. xinput list-props "ImExPS/2 Logitech Explorer Mouse"

and attach the output of both commands so that I can see what's wrong
and possibly fix it in the driver.
