Sub'ing ubuntu-universe-sponsors, this package is in universe. While we currently have a stable release in intrepid, Debian experimental has a release candidate. Wouldn't it be better to wait until the stable version is released? Or do you plan to track upstream and make sure that the new final gets into intrepid? What are the reasons why we should update to a new development release at this point?
