Alan, I don't know whether this may be related to bug 246269 or not. As I'm still a little unsure whether this is a kernel bug or an Xorg driver bug, we'll proceed with the assumption that it could be either. Therefore, could you please attach the following additional information:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report. It would also be interesting to see what happens if you boot without 'quiet' and 'splash'. If you see the boot messages correctly, then this is likely to be a Xorg or video driver issue. If you see the screen corruption from very early on, then this is likely to be a kernel issue.
