As a means to better illustrate the importance of this issue, and to help suppliment this report with more information, I have dug these up from the ubuntu forums:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=942785 http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=175577 As the first link says, most new HP pavillion models are shipped with lightscribe drives. Mine came with this type of drive, and I am having the same problem as mentioned above. With this many computers, and potential Ubuntu users, having this problem, I recommend at least a medium importance for this bug. I am readily available at my e-mail address for any testing or further information, plus I am willing to try anything. I'm not having any trouble with my current installation, but this problem creates difficulty in gleaning any useful information with dmesg, unless I run it right when a problem occurs. -- cdrom error code: 0x70 sense_key 0x02 https://launchpad.net/bugs/50208 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
