The MBP4,1 and MBA1,1 are distinctly different from earlier MPB models, requiring a fix to applesmc to make them work properly (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=924096, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/102270).
The leds device name changed again, to /sys/class/leds:smc::kbd_backlight/brightness.
