Public bug reported: Binary package hint: finch
I installed finch on jeos <http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/serveredition/jeos>. When trying to run it, the following message corrupts its display: process 30393: D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory See the manual page for dbus-uuidgen to correct this issue. The following message then appears every few seconds: libnm_glib_dbus_init: error, org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.FileNotFound raised: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory All of the above messages appear on stderr so they can be silenced with finch 2>/dev/null Installing the dbus package reduces the problem to single message on startup that does not corrupt its display: libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error. (org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown) The name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager was not provided by any .service files ** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- finch complains if dbus not installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275798 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
