I've been progressively adding more disks to the controller over the past few weeks, and am now using every port, with 5 hard drives and 1 DVD drive. Everything is working perfectly, and I haven't had a single error (still on Ubuntu 8.04). Hopefully this means whatever I was experiencing has been fixed. Feel free to close this.
