I use Kubuntu 6.10 64-bit and I don't get this error when I booted using Kubuntu 6.10 64-bit DVD in my AMD Athlon64 and PCI-E ATI Radeon X800. However, after a few times booting, I got the same bug when I upgraded from 6.06 to 6.10 (that was not a fresh install). But now I've installed 6.10 freshly and I only needed to install the fglrx drivers (the console comes right up and after installing driver and aticonfig --initial, I can run startx). The DVD did not give me any troubles; it just went straight to console and I had to install fglrx driver and run aticonfig --initial to run startx (later I installed on my HD). Quite odd, maybe I will get the same bug after booting ito HD a few times.
