Public bug reported: 64bits. nvidia driver (177.76-0ubuntu1) installed via synaptics. Tried with and without xorg.conf
* Driver does not show up in Hardware drivers (jockey-gtk). * I cannot activate compiz via Appearance > Visual Effects * nvidia-settings gives me "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server." Note that things worked until about 2.6.27-3 (or maybe parallel other packages). Also note that I have an Intel Wireless Wifi Link 5100 that _does_ work since the same kernel. Some other people seem to have similar issues: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=879134 (thats with 2.6.27-rc4, though) $ lsmod | grep nv nvidia 7798200 0 i2c_core 36128 1 nvidia $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch) Release: 8.10 $ lspci | grep nV 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 9600M GT (rev a1) $ uname -a Linux razor 2.6.27-4-generic #1 SMP Wed Sep 24 01:29:06 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- Nvidia 177 not working with kernel 2.6.27-4 on a Geforce GT 9600M https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
