After upgrading from hardy to intrepid, I am having various network
issues which may or may not be related. Applications using HTTP like
wget, firefox, and apt seem to have problems fetching files and
resolving host names. The issue is generally sporadic, ie. the
applications can resolve www.google.com but not mirror.umoss.org.
Sometimes the names will resolve, but when they do, the connection times
out or is unacceptably slow (ie, apt-get reports speeds of 30 bytes/sec
for my on-campus mirror). All host names can be resolved via the command
line using the host command, and other computers on the network don't
have similar issues.
