This bug is still present in Intrepid Beta, where it is the only
impediment to flawless hotkey control of backlight on a Sony Vaio
SZ650N.

** Summary changed:

- xbacklight not working in hardy because of wrong XRandR BACKLIGHT_CONTROL
setting
+ Backlight dimming not working in Hardy or Intrepid because of wrong XRandR
BACKLIGHT_CONTROL setting

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: xbacklight
+ Backlight control on Hardy is dependent on xbacklight, for Sony Vaios
+ with Intel display adapters. In intrepid, backlight dimming does not
+ require xbacklight and Fn keys are properly mapped. In both scenarios
+ running the following command is necessary for the backlight to respond
+ to input.

- xbacklight worked as expected under Gutsy, but does not work at all
- under Hardy. Running xbacklight from the command line echoes what you
- last set the lcd brightness value to, but the brightness is not changed.
-
- running:
$ xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL native

- from the command line fixes the problem.
+ Sony Vaio SZ650N, Intel GM965 / GMA X3100, 'intel' driver.

+ This bug has been duped and unduped a couple of times with no
+ improvement despite the mother-dupes being fixed, so I'm making it
+ independent again.
