I have the same problem. On every version change of the kernel, my nvidia module gets broken. It simply creates the nvidia.ko only for the active kernel.
I have just upgraded to 2.6.27-5-generic, dkms was called and didn't report any errors, but your find command only shows: /lib/modules/2.6.27-4-generic/updates/dkms/nvidia.ko /lib/modules/2.6.26-2-generic/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko /lib/modules/last-good-boot/updates/dkms/nvidia.ko I tried to completely remove all nvidia related stuff and re-installing it, but it doesn't help Ouptut of the reinstall command (Some parts are german) Paketlisten werden gelesen...
