I'm rebuilding the package with the gentoo proposed patch and it seems to be in the good direction:
checking for sin6_scope_id in struct sockaddr_in6... yes checking for in6_pktinfo... yes checking for struct if_laddrreq... no I patched the source with the patch, ran debian/rules autofiles and then re-copied the "config.sub" and "config.guess" files from the virgin source tree for ./configure to work correctly.
