Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

Package xorg-driver-fglrx_7.1.0-8.28.8+2.6.17.5-11_i386.deb works just fine
with my video card (recognized as an ATI Radeon 9200 SE ("RV280")). After
upgrading to xorg-driver-fglrx_7.1.0-8.30.3+2.6.19.1-1_i386.deb, I get this
error:
------------
(EE) fglrx(0): Chipset 0x5964 is not recognized
(EE) fglrx(0): PreInitConfig failed
-------------
and then X aborts.
Downgrading back to the older version makes things work again, so I'm pretty
sure this is the responsible package. Will attach xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log from
both versions.

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.19 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
