Hi Nathan, thanks for using Ubuntu and thanks for taking the time to
file this bug report! This behavior however is intended, as we want the
Live CD experience to resemble as much as possible the typical desktop
experience. As such we want as much installed functionality as possible
in the installer itself, to make it easier to try out (and show off)
features, including virtual desktops.
Please don't hesitate to file any new bugs that you find, and thanks
again!
