Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17

I want to compile the lirc-modules-source package, which requires a complete
kernel source in /usr/src/linux. I've installed linux-source-2.6.17 and
untarred the source to /usr/src/linux.
However, it seems to be impossible to build the modules using
make-kpkg modules_image.
I get the following output:

test -f .config || (echo "*** Need a config file .config" && false)
echo "The UTS Release version in include/linux/version.h"; echo "     \"\" ";
echo "does not match current version:"; echo "     \"2.6.17.13-ubuntu1\" ";
echo "Please correct this."; exit 2
The UTS Release version in include/linux/version.h
     ""
does not match current version:
     "2.6.17.13-ubuntu1"
Please correct this.
make: *** [modules_image] Error 2

The problem may be caused by an older version of kernel-package, and
possible fixed in kernel-package 10.057 (see http://www.nabble.com/-OT--
2.6.18-ck1-+-debian-compile-error-t2318083.html).
