This crash occurs repeatably whenever you add a font, system-wide or in the user's ~/.fonts folder. It does not necessarily have anything to do with updates of OpenOffice itself.
Users are seeing this crash during updates *of non-openoffice packages* when the package being installed registers fonts. If an application segfaults when it notices a new font, that's a bug that needs to be fixed.
