@Mark, it looks from your lspci info that you have a SiS video chip. So if you're seeing a similar issue, it's entirely coincidental. Please report your problem as a new bug, and be sure to include both the lspci log you posted here, and your /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Also, photos of the screen corruption with a camera can be handy.
