Thank you for following up on this bug. Kudos to the developer in you.
Seriously, I don't think it's an issue anymore. I changed the
installation to an Ubuntu and also tried Xubuntu. Package upgrading
and dist-upgrade seems to work fine, though not sure if system wide
upgrade (via Synaptic) would bring the bug back (that was what I was
trying to do then). I sorta use the command line now anyway (apt-get
dist-upgrade etc.) but I think it works either way. As a point of
argument, I was transitioning between Xubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 then (when
8.04 just came out of RC/beta). Probably should be cleared up by
now... Anyways, thanks very much for asking.
