Thanks Arnaud for your comment. I guess you're right. It should be related to the linux package.
Cheers, Samuel ** Description changed: Hello, Here is my configuration: Packard-bell BG 45-U-002 Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 In order to enable the wifi on this laptop, I had to run the procedure below: http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/atheros_ar5007eg And it worked well. Today (17.10.2008), I authorized an update via synaptic and a lot of packages were updated successfully. I noticed that a new kernel was installed (probably the 2.6.24-21-generic). The upgrade process told me to reboot, what I did. When the system was up again, I noticed that my wifi configuration was killed (no ath0 any more in ifconfig and iwconfig did not detect any wifi interface). I decided to run the process above again in order to reapply the specific parameters, and especially the "modprobe ath_pci". When I rebooted, the system froze with a kernel panic obviously related to the wifi. Then, I decided to reboot with the old kernel (2.6.24-19-generic) and it worked. Moreover, the wifi works perfectly (my parameters have been kept). I am not a guru of linux but I am able to run command lines. However I - do not know what logfile could be useful for the community in order + do not know what logfile could be useful for the community in order to solve this bug. I can reproduce the bug with the new kernel anyway. Thanks a lot for your help.
