I can still see the problem:

dagger ~ $ /usr/bin/X11/soffice
cd: 158: can't cd to ../lib/openoffice/program
/usr/bin/X11/soffice: 347: /usr/bin/X11/pagein: not found
/usr/bin/X11/soffice: 363: /usr/bin/X11/soffice.bin: not found
dagger ~ $

Now that /usr/bin/X11 is no longer in my $PATH, I'm not seeing a problem
if I just type soffice.
