The problem is on line 104 of /usr/share/man/man1/iconv.1.gz; it reads

TH ICONV 1 "etch" "20/Jun/2004" "Debian GNU/Linux"

but should read

.TH ICONV 1 "etch" "20/Jun/2004" "Debian GNU/Linux"

Workarounds are to run 'iconv --help' which gives all the information in
the manpage, or to run 'yelp man:iconv'; yelp seems to recover from the
incorrect header line more gracefully.
