To keep the panels, which seem to return when you restart gdm, go to
Applications -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Sessions and Startup.
Make sure "Logout settings -> Automatically save session..." is
unchecked. Then when restarting, make sure again the logout does not say
"save settigns".
Are you still having this issue with the latest development version of
Intrepid 8.10? Could you try it and let us know? Thanks for helping test
and improve Intrepid 8.10.
