Same here.. I have HP Pavilion a420.me and I have the same problem. Everything works just fine, except for the restarting process.
I've checked if the LiveCD is different than the installed Ubuntu.. but it has the same problem. I check the CD in a different PC which has Mercury motherboard in it. It works just fine. I've also tried the 'acpi=force' thing.. but nothing happened.. I decided to go back to Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and upgrade everything except to Ubuntu 6.10.
