I just discovered a workaround: add "options processor max_cstate=2" to /etc/modprobe.d/options, then run "update-initramfs -u" and reboot. I did this for another reason, but as a side-effect, my microphone started to record at the right speed. I guess therefore this bug is something to do with power management and/or clock speed.
