Another great extension could be to allow multiple source ISOs to be
selected, and create a boot menu to pick one of them

I don't know much about the differences between the layout of files on the
ISO and the USB, however if multiple ISOs can be made bootable with a single
USB partition, I'd be most happy.

one use case for this is to have a USB stick with both 32bit and 64bit
installers
