Good catch, Particlese! I've installed Japanese language input support on my Kubuntu Intrepid Beta test rig, which gets me scim-bridge-client- qt4 0.4.14-2ubuntu2. Even with skim running in the system tray I'm still unable to elicit the bug in kate. I would take this finding with a grain of salt, though, since Japanese input isn't working at the moment. Could you please test using the latest Kubuntu 8.10 as soon as you get a chance?
