For others with the same problem, I found out what the problem was, at least in my case.
I had the very same issue as reported here for a good while, an obsolete tzdata-java was dependent on tzdata=2008b-1ubuntu1, preventing installation of both openjdk-6 and an up to date tzdata. Apparently the two binary packages even originate from a single source package, making the situation rather strange. Turned out my /etc/apt/sources.list was inconsistent. tzdata is part of main, but tzdata-java is part of universe. Somehow my /etc/apt/sources.list was missing updates for universe (and multiverse). While I was at it, I also added hardy-security for universe and multiverse as well. I must have forgotten those entries while editing sources.list. After fixing my sources.list, it now works again. Besides tzdata-java there was about a dozen updates to apply, including a few security- related ones. -- openjdk-6-jre is uninstalable as of Thu Aug 7 14:16:14 UTC 2008 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255738 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
