I've recently upgraded to the Intrepid beta (from Gutsy), and it seems like this error has only started showing up after the upgrade. So I can confirm that this bug is present in linux-image-2.6.27-5-generic. Rather annoying, because the link's state goes from up to down to up again within 1-2 seconds, but NetworkManager sees this and throws up a bunch of info message bubbles.
