@Stephane: It should work with "export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so" not "v4l2convert". After compiling and installing, did you restart Linux? Are you sure, you installed 0.5.1? Try to uninstall the old one before compiling yourself the new version?
