I have the same issue in Ubuntu 8.10. I have all volumes maxed with no mute. And i hear myself from the speakers, but no program can capture it. I have tried with Sound Recorder, Steam, and teamspeak. And none of them can record anything. I have tried this with both my soundcards, 1 disabled at a time. Creative sound blaster Audigy 2 Platinum and Intel HDA.
