Yeah, I've noticed that as well. If I wait 30 seconds or so and let the SRST errors pass and then just exit initramfs, system will boot as usual. I have a SATA DVD drive like you do, but I haven't verified that it is missing. It is reading like crazy on boot though during the SRST errors.
