Yes, it runs on Intrepid (8.10) AMD64 with this added to 
/etc/security/limits.conf
gpk         soft    memlock        200000
gpk         hard    memlock        200000

Be aware though, it doesn't take effect until you log out and log back
in.

But, THIS IS STILL A BUG!    The darn program should report that it
doesn't have enough memory, rather than simply segfaulting.
