I can confirm I also have input problem with SCIM since a few days and on my two computer (I use SCIM for Japanese input)
After start-up input seem broken in every apps I tried. Workaround I found: exiting from the gnome tray icon and launching "scim" (alt + f2) I hope this get corrected for the final version.
