Hi everyone, I have been bit busy, so I didn't test the new kernel on time :( However I just installed xubuntu on another laptop and tried the live cd on the amilo also, and I can confirm, the bug still exists. This was xubuntu 8.10 RC1, with kernel 2.6.27-7-generic I believe.
It seems that the bug manifest itself every time the machine starts cold (=powered off more than one hour for example), so it's easy to duplicate/confirm.
