Yes, it is Y and I didn't set this option explicity.

Yes, it is always the same Notebook with the same disk.

It seems that I have the PL3507A, which firmware can't be updated.

BUT: For whatever reason the disk is working reliable with my current
intrepid again with 2.6.27-7.14 altough I see no firewire or sbp related
changes in the linux-image changelog between 2.6.27-4 and 2.6.27-7.

So for me this issue is fixed, but I think an explanation would be nice.
