Public bug reported:

Before X windows is started its nearly impossible to type anything.
Every time you press a key extra characters are added after the 'key'
]]M is the usual but some keys, such as the arrow keys write different
stuff. I can type to do things like, login, by holding down the
backspace key and typing in my login details which seems to stop the
extra characters being sent. The characters seem to be sent when the key
is released. I have a cellink RF combo, which is a USB mouse and a PS2
keyboard, both wireless. Once in any Xwindows the keyboard works fine,
and I dont have this problem at all with any distro of linux before the
release of the kernel 2.6.17... Anyone have any idea how i can fix this?

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
