I think this is another issue and will open a new thread. I have investigated a little further, given my limited knowledge on Linux, I have used the gnome device manager to detect which devices are connected. both keyboard and mouse are detected as Logitech usb receiver but the keyboard is without type and the mouse reads type unknown button.
