Just downloaded 8.10 hot off the press, and installed on Dell Latitude
D630.  Enabling the version 177 video driver game me the same fan
behavior in X.  Full speed for 2-4 seconds, min speed (or off) for 1
second, and repeat forever.  Very annoying!  Dell system BIOS (A13)
reports video adapter as "Quadro NVS 135M", Video BIOS version
060.086.068.000.016.000.  Don't know if that would help anyone trying to
track down this bug, but thought I'd offer it just in case.

How does one get the earlier build of version 177 (without this
problem)?  Only other option I see in the proprietary driver dialog is
version 173...
