Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal
I have a thinkpad x60 tablet, which worked OK on feisty and hardy after finding the right configuration options to put into xorg.conf. During the update to intrepid hal came along and commented them all out, so nothing works any more: # Uncomment if you have a wacom tablet # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used # InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents" # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used # InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents" # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used # InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents" # commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used # InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad" This seems to confirm my long held suspicion that hal is just plain evil. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 $ apt-cache policy hal hal: Installiert: 0.5.11-4ubuntu4 Kandidat: 0.5.11-4ubuntu4 Versions-Tabelle: *** 0.5.11-4ubuntu4 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- updating to intrepid disables touchscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292024 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
