Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

I have a thinkpad x60 tablet, which worked OK on feisty and hardy after
finding the right configuration options to put into xorg.conf. During
the update to intrepid hal came along and commented them all out, so
nothing works any more:

# Uncomment if you have a wacom tablet
# commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used
# InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
# commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used
# InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents"
# commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used
# InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"
# commented out by update-manager, HAL is now used
# InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad"

This seems to confirm my long held suspicion that hal is just plain
evil.
