The point is, that there should not be VPN tab if none of VPN plugins are 
installed.
Or it should suggest to download one (like with codecs).  
Anyway, having VPN plugins on CD is not enough, you should also have 
network_manager_pptp (whatever it is) installed.
And it is really strange, that there is no default VPN support in ubuntu (how 
can anoyone download VPN packges without running VPN connection to ISP?). 
Windows has pptp support since win98, 10 (!) years ago.
