Public bug reported: Hi, first of all I hope this is the correct place to file this bug.
I have installed a fresh Kubuntu Intrepid (AMD64) on a Shuttle XPC SN72P2 (AM2+nForce 570). When the system boots there are errors trying to run the bluetooth daemon and accesing the USB ports: Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: Bluetooth daemon Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.556511] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.13 Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.557968] NET: Registered protocol family 31 Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.557978] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.557985] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: Starting SDP server Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.581331] Bluetooth: L2CAP ver 2.11 Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.581345] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.599752] Bluetooth: SCO (Voice Link) ver 0.6 Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.599769] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: Starting experimental netlink support Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: Failed to find Bluetooth netlink family Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: Can't init plugin /usr/lib/bluetooth/plugins/netlink.so Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.632039] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.632057] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.667186] Bridge firewalling registered Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle bluetoothd[5794]: bridge pan0 created Nov 3 14:58:42 shuttle kernel: [ 49.667845] pan0: Dropping NETIF_F_UFO since no NETIF_F_HW_CSUM feature. Later on, I plug my RedOctane USB Pad (a carpet for StepMania) and launch the Joystick calibration in System Settings. Apparently the Pad is working, as it appears on /dev/js1 and when I press a key the mouse is displaced to the border of the screen on the right direction: dmesg: Nov 3 18:54:28 shuttle kernel: [14195.681038] usb 1-10: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 9 Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14195.894699] usb 1-10: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14195.897750] hub 1-10:1.0: USB hub found Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14195.899795] hub 1-10:1.0: 3 ports detected Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14196.217790] usb 1-10.1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 10 Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14196.329044] usb 1-10.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14196.341925] input: RedOctane RedOctane USB Pad as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb1/1-10/1-10.1/1-10.1:1.0/input/input7 Nov 3 18:54:29 shuttle kernel: [14196.365310] input,hidraw2: USB HID v1.01 Joystick [RedOctane RedOctane USB Pad] on usb-0000:00:02.0-10.1 Then I try to run Stepmania (ok this is not a supported package in Ubuntu) and the pad doesn't run. It worked perfectly with Ubuntu Hardy. I've tried to run the old Hardy package from Playdeb (with dirty forcing and a few ln -s to use newest versions of libraries) as It seems impossible to compile the sources due to an error with liblua: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lua50/+bug/293236 Finally the game works, except for the pad. I have also tried some old rpms with alien. In all cases after some dirty hacking always the same result, the game runs fine but I cannot use the pad. I suppose it's a kind of problem with the USB as I've also experienced some other problems with the Shuttle PN18 (ZD1211) Wireless dongle. It doesn't work on boot, and if I try to connect the internal USB manually after boot I receive this: [21288.892847] zd1211rw 2-1:1.0: couldn't reset usb device. Suddenly stopped working after a reboot with a kernel upgrade on Hardy, and now the problem persist with Intrepid.
