Earl, I'm certainly not trying to insult you. I really do understand how frustrating it is when things don't work...or regress from working. It has happened to me, too, and it's awful.
I'm a volunteer, not a Canonical employee, and I'm trying to determine which package to assign your bug against (alsa? pulseaudio? linux kernel?), if there's already an existing bug report on your problem, how to reproduce your problem, and if it's even possible for me to reproduce it since I have different equipment.
