Public bug reported: #1 Um.. how do I describe this.. let me see OMG IT WONT WORK HELP HELP HELP!!!
#2 Cause : LCD monitor running via VGA cable does not provide correct EDID info. #3 Result: Device refresh rates from full-screen programs like FretsOnFire can exceed Monitor refresh rates causing a "INPUT SIGNAL OUT OF RANGE" error. #4 Exceptions to issue : Gnome loads fine. Compiz works fine. Non Full-Screen programs work fine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This issue is not card specific. This issue is not distro specific. This issue is not xorg specific. Numerous attempts to configure xorg have only resulted in FAIL. These include manual setting of parameters including MODELINE and scripted configurations. Do not attempt to SAGE this issue on the grounds of driver or xorg settings. #4 is my defense. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only plausible fix I can come up with, in the event nobody else proposes one, is a script that makes all programs comply with xorg set refresh rates and resolutions. This may be undesirable as some programs use custom resolutions, and this would cause graphical glitches, but this would establish a STANDARD for entire systems at once. The one major benefit I see from this: Perceived as well as literal increased system stability. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: critical fretsonfire lcd pebcak vga -- Input Signal Out of Range(Specific to Full-Screen Apps) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293739 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
