source: pidgin-2.5.2ubuntu1 (Intrepid) pidgin can't reconnect to servers after resume until restarted. Issue is tracked and fixed upstream in http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/7323 I recompiled pidgin from ubuntu's source and confirm the fix.
